    Very good

Proximity on bus line pool table most staff helpful, friendly

First room was not upgraded. Old carpet, missing molding, train right outside window. Not worth the $133 per night. The thought of spending 7 more days in a room like that almost had me cancelling the upcoming reservation. 2nd room was upgraded - newer carpet, mouldings, wallpaper. However, tub was small which made showering difficult. One morning, water from hot water pipe was running brownish-red, from a rusty pipe, I assume. Will not stay there again.

    Location

I didn't like having to cross a picket-line to check in to the hotel. Also, I know the hotel is very old and that adds a certain charm to it but a fresh coat of paint on the walls and doors wouldn't hurt.

    Location.

There was no air-condition in the room. Heating is central. Because of cold weather outside it was a little bit cold in the room. But the problem was solved by personal heater which was provided by receptionist

    Fabulous

The view of Grant Park and Lake Michigan was beautiful. It was close to sights. It was old, but the bathroom had new pretty tiles. The room was large compared to the Palmer Hilton.

Suprise: you will have to cross picket lines as you enter the hotel, and are greeted by security? I am so glad you listed 14.5% tax not included... Then I was suprised by the state and city taxes that were added $974 ended up $1200. For such charges, there should extras. I wish they had free internet and local call access. The breakfast restaurant closed, at 12, rather than change menus... You were supposed to go to their other restaurant after 11 for lunch, no sign posted re hours, or menu, how was I to know?

    Exceptional

The hotel has amazing history. I loved that you could still feel the history, even though there were many modern touches. The Gold Room is absolutely breathtaking. The location was the tops. After being in the city, we realized just how few hotels there are (especially in this price range that were still this classy!) that had a view of the water. The view from our room was priceless. We looked directly over Grant Park and were able to see beautfiul sunrises. We were in the city, yet not in the middle of all the hub bub. Check in and Check out was a breeze, our room was made up perfectly every day that we used the service and the room was always quiet. We rarely heard hallway noise at all. I would definately recomend this hotel and cannot wait to return again. We will stay here from now on while visiting Chicago!

The bell man couldnt speak very clearly. He was foreign and we had a difficult time understaning him. He was a bit rude as well. Other than that, everything was perfect. ,

    Good

The convenient location close to McCormick Show facilities - the helpful nature of the concierges and their ability to source economic limos to the airport etc.

One of the towels in the bathroom was the shape of a swan.

Lots of negatives - had to pay for wifi, room had damp - everything in the room and on our floor was cold and smelt horrible. Very very old rooms and corridors - it looked like the shining! Paint was peeling off and everthing was worn very badly. Very dated and desperately needs renovation!Windows are so small and room very dark and dingy on the top floor.Air=old andintermittant Worst thing - final bill was MUCH higher than expected - even though I booked though Booked.net things were still added. If I knew the end price would not have stayed here as it is NOT worth the money - the hostel across the road (a HI) has double private rooms for half the price that are new and clean. Never again - I will be staying in the hostel as that is so much better than this hotel- SHAME on Booked.net for not advertising this properly!

    Fabulous

Location - ease of accessing the Art Institute and Grant Park and not far from the Adler. The restaurant was very convenient for breakfast. The view of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier was great.

There was no restaurant for dinner that was reasonable. The room was large, but kind of old. The furniture was very old and marred.

There was no heat in our room. The staff initially told us the heat would come on around 6:00 pm. Later, they informed us that the heat would not be turned on at all because the outside temperature was unseasonably high for November (50 degrees). Also, we did not have hot water in our room. It was warm at best. The staff told us that the water would not get as hot as your water at home because they coud not run the risk of someone child getting scalded by it. Needless to say, we checke out after the firt night.

    Fabulous

I like my suite. The view was breath-taking and Loved the separate lounge from the bedroom. I will stay there again.

That internet is extra. I think it should be part of the room rate to avoid suprises.
